Protecting Against Cyber Threats: Multi-Layered Cybersecurity Approach
These days there are few topics that are more important than security. As a subset of that, cybersecurity threats have a constantly evolving nature, requiring ongoing research to keep up with the newest developments to provide a safe environment for our students and staff. Because we value that commitment, we desire to share what we are doing to provide protection from threat actors. To best safeguard the environment and implement defense in depth, we have implemented multiple security measures, including:
Advanced Email Protection
Using an email filtering tool to detect and block phishing emails, malicious links, and harmful attachments before they ever reach inboxes.
Cloud Threat Detection
This tool continuously monitors and responds to any potential threats inside email and file-sharing environments, protecting our systems from online threats.
24/7 Endpoint Protection
Every device connected to the network is protected by Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) software. This system is monitored 24/7 by technicians in a Security Operations Center (SOC) to quickly detect and respond to potential cyber threats.
Cybersecurity Training for Staff
Yorkshire Faculty and staff take part in ongoing cybersecurity training to recognize and prevent cyber threats, such as phishing and social engineering attempts.
Web Filtering on the Network
Web filtering is utilized to block access to harmful websites, ensuring that students and staff can safely navigate the internet while on campus.
Staying Ahead of Emerging Threats
Cyber threats are constantly evolving, and so are we. BEMA Information Technologies stays up to date on the latest cybersecurity risks, secure baselines, and best practices to proactively protect the Yorkshire school community.
A Shared Responsibility
Cybersecurity is a team effort. While we have strong measures in place, we encourage parents to stay informed and practice online safety at home as well. By working together, we can ensure a secure digital environment for our students.
Some best practices include securing important accounts. Especially your primary personal email, use multi-factor authentication, update your personal devices regularly, and avoid reusing passwords.
