Parent Volunteer Community
Parent Volunteer Help Enrich our Yorkshire Community
The PVC, Parent Volunteer Community, is an integral part of Yorkshire Academy. Parents help to enrich our students’ learning experience by: volunteering as homeroom parents, assisting teachers with parties or special events; making musical costumes and props; working with the school librarian as a library assistant; or serving as a reading and listening parent, reading to students, or listening to the students read as they are learning.
Past Activities
Some of PVC’s special activities have included:
Family Friendship Mentor Program
The Family Friendship Mentor program pairs a new Yorkshire family with an existing Yorkshire family. This is a great way for new families at the school to transition into the Yorkshire culture.
Community Involvement/Emergency Relief
Yorkshire Academy families have been extremely generous in assisting local and worldwide emergency efforts, as well as other community needs. Past examples include hurricane relief, area pet shelter assistance, Texas Children’s Hospital toy drives, Casa de Esperanza Foster Home Pajama Drive, Kangaroo Island Wildlife Refuge, and several more.
Yorkshire’s Nutcracker Market
In conjunction with Yorkshire’s Nutcracker play, Yorkshire Academy’s families spearhead, improve, and support the Yorkshire Academy Nutcracker Holiday Market. In additional to the traditional vendors, the market offers a Musical themed raffle baskets, Kid’s Treasure Shoppe, Resale Bookshop, and a Student’s Art Sale. This endeavor supports Yorkshire Academy's Fine Arts Department.
