Estate Planning 101: Wills, Trusts, Guardianship, Power of Attorney and What They All Mean
Friday, November 3, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.
Presented by Carly Maderer
Carly Maderer (J.D., M.B.A., Texas Licensed Estate Planning and Business Law Attorney) will educate parents about basic Estate Planning tools and answer the most commonly asked question “Do I really need a Will?”. In this presentation, Carly will outline the importance of having a comprehensive Estate Plan, and explain why each tool can have positive and negative implications for your loved ones. Because there is no “one size fits all” Estate Plan, Carly will share real life examples of: why some parents establish Trusts, why designations of Executor, Trustee and Guardian are so important, why certain “Pay On Death” beneficiary designations like IRAs, Life Insurance Policies and 401ks can be problematic, and how proper planning can save your loved ones money and headaches in the long run. She will also explain the Probate process in Texas and how it differs from various other states.
