1. What is the appropriate age for my child to attend preschool?

Your child’s age should be three by September 1st to get them enrolled in our preschool program. Students from 18 months to three years qualify for our early childhood education curriculum, and children can attend Yorkshire Academy through 5th grade.

2. What will my child’s typical day be like?

Parents know that every day is a new adventure with a three-year-old! We take steps to make sure that each day provides new opportunities for fun and learning. We offer numerous educational and enrichment opportunities for our preschool students. We know that three-year-olds may not have the longest attention span, which is why we utilize several multi-sensory activities. Our enrichment opportunities allow your children to have fun and learn at the same time. They’ll learn several necessary skills for child development while forming friendships with other students. We also offer many special events throughout the year so there’s always something to look forward to.

3. Parent/Teacher communication

At Yorkshire Academy, we encourage all prospective parents and guardians to take a tour of our Houston, TX, campus to get a firsthand look at where your children will be spending their time. We schedule three parent/teacher conferences during the year because it’s important to talk one-on-one with our professional and caring teachers. We also keep you updated with weekly and monthly communication about what’s going on with your children and our school.

4. Will my child be challenged academically?

We know what’s appropriate for three-year-olds.  The skills and habits they develop during this crucial time could help them in their later years! Being challenged academically is an important way to develop your young child’s brain to help them reach their full potential. We mix both educational and enrichment opportunities to make learning fun and help your children look forward to going to school each day! Most of our students have so much fun that they don’t even realize how much they’re truly learning!

5. What type of curriculum is used at Yorkshire Academy?

Our preschool activities and lesson plans are mixed with games, art projects, and more to keep learning fun and interactive. Our preschool curriculum uses a multi-sensory approach within Frog Street Pre-K adaptations. This comprehensive and research-based program focuses on multiple developmental domains and early learning disciplines. These educational experiences stimulate your child’s auditory, kinesthetic, visual, and tactile learning. Our units of study are theme-based and will encourage your child’s natural curiosity and ability because we all know that three-year-olds are inquisitive creatures.

6. What hours will my child be in preschool?

Our preschool hours are designed to maximize your child’s potential. Your preschoolers can be dropped off from 8:45 to 9:00 a.m., with class promptly beginning at nine. If your child attends our Mid-Day Stay from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m., they can be picked up from 2:30 to 2:45 p.m. at our Memorial drive-thru.
